A natural gas leak forced the shutdown of part of a major Shreveport roadway for a few hours the evening of Sept. 10.
As a result, Saturday night traffic was funneling its way through a neighborhood.
Authorities have since reopened the section of Youree Drive between Leo and Pennsylvania avenues that had been closed due to a blowing natural gas main.
Both north- and southbound lanes of travel were affected by the closure that began about 6:30 p.m.
Authorities advised motorists to use an alternate route.
Even so, it appeared that some drivers were choosing to use Pennsylvania and Leo avenues to detour via East Kings Highway. That resulted in additional traffic on residential streets in that part of the city's Broadmoor neighborhood.
