SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Lightning sparked a house fire in Shreveport on Friday evening, a fire dispatcher confirms.
It happened at 9 p.m. on Hallette Drive between Captain Mary Miller and Mollie Able drives, Caddo dispatch records show.
That's in The Haven subdivision off East Kings Highway near LSU-Shreveport.
The lightning came from storms that also knocked out electricity to almost 20,000 AEP-SWEPCO customers. The bulk of those outages - 14,950 - occurred in Caddo Parish.
Six Shreveport Fire Department units and their crews battled the fire during the rainstorm.
A neighbor told KSLA News 12 that the home's owner drove up as the lightning struck the house.
