Bossier City mall opens in wake of natural gas line break

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Tenants of a Bossier City mall have been allowed back inside and the shopping venue is open for business after a delivery truck driver backed into a gas line.

The Pierre Bossier Mall was evacuated in response to the natural gas line break, but Centerpoint was able to shut off the gas and emergency crews determined no gas escaped.

The mall was able to open on time at 10 a.m.

The break occurred when a driver was backing a tractor-trailer rig up to the loading dock at JC Penney about 8:30 a.m.

The trailer hit the side of the building, damaging a structure that protects the main natural gas line going to the mall.

Centerpoint is still working to repair the damage and restore gas utilities to tenants inside the mall.
