DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A Lafayette woman was arrested on a laundry list of drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish.
It happened just after 11 p.m. on June 5 on I-49. According to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for reportedly traveling 106 mph in the 75 mph zone.
The deputy reportedly smelled what he believed to be burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle.
The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle and was questioned at which time deputies found out that the owner of the vehicle was the passenger, 23-year-old Demi Michelle Thibodeeaux.
When asked about the smell, Thibodeeaux reportedly told the deputies that nothing was in the vehicle, but she had some other friends in the vehicle earlier who were smoking marijuana.
Thibodeeaux was asked to step out of the vehicle at which time she allegedly gave the deputy a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana.
While searching the vehicle, the deputies reportedly found a glass jar and plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana, a prescription pill bottle containing suspected crack cocaine, numerous prescription medications (Alprazolam, Buspirone and Vyvance) without proper prescriptions and suspected ecstasy.
Deputies say Thibodeeaux claimed possession of all of the illegal narcotics in the vehicle and was taken into custody.
