Server charged with theft from Shreveport restaurant

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A server at a Shreveport restaurant is behind bars, accused of pocketing cash from customers instead of putting it in the register.

Christopher Sheppard, 38, was a server at Chianti's on Line Ave from December 2014 until April 2016.

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, an investigation was launched after an audit revealed missing money from the business.

That investigation led to Sheppard's arrest on Monday on a charge of felony theft.

Sheppard is accused of pocketing cash payments at the restaurant and clearing tickets with fake gift certificates. The total loss over a year was $2,800.

He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail around 10:30 a.m. Monday and at last check was awaiting transfer to the Caddo Correctional Center.
