Slain man's family in search of answers, justice; sets vigil April 2

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A family wants justice for the slaying of a loved one.

An arrest has yet to be made in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old VeAndrew Hudson about 10 p.m. Wednesday. He died shortly after being rushed to University Health in Shreveport.

Investigators have since been searching for answers, including a motive and any possible suspect.

The loss of Hudson seems like a bad dream to some of those who knew and loved him.

"I was in the house, I just took off started running, it's senseless," Hudson's brother Harold Castle said.

Investigators say Hudson was shot multiple times. Crime scene investigators found at least a dozen shell casings.

"They told us to go in the family room," Hudson's mother, Keanyatta Johnson, said. "I told them I didn't want to go in the family room because I knew what that meant."

Hudson's family believes he knew his killer.

As each day passes without answers, they are left searching for closure.

"You do this to my baby and you have no conscience about it, you wrong and you need to pay," Johnson said.

Hudson was the father of 2 children with 1 more on the way.

"He will not leave here in vain," Johnson said. "I will not let this rest until somebody is caught for my baby."

For now, the tears still are flowing and the family's request for justice remains.

"I'm hoping somebody knows something and come forward and tell," Johnson added.

Hudson's family will hold a vigil at 7 p.m. Saturday where he was fatally shot near Fairy Avenue at Valley Ridge Road in Shreveport.

The family also has set up a GoFundMe account to help offset expenses associated with their loss.
