SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Ranchers in Caddo Parish are moving cattle Thursday morning because of rising floodwaters.

At least 3 ranchers are moving their herds to a neighbor's ranch with higher ground further south on Ellerbe Road.

More than 70 head of cattle are expected to be moved from the 12000 block of Ellerbe Road, according to ranchers.

"They pushed them through about 100 acres of woods and then back across the ditch to the levee," said Laura Leflett who owns the cattle.

Leflett is the principal at Bossier City's Apollo Elementary. Bossier schools along with most of the other schools in Northwest Louisiana are out again on Friday due to the flood emergency in the ArkLaTex.

Traffic was being diverted by Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office off of Ellerbe Road to Robson Road because of high water.
