LOGANSPORT, LA (KSLA) - Several families were evacuated from homes in DeSoto Parish Thursday due to severe flooding.

There are mandatory evacuation and water rescues being conducted Thursday morning on Sleepy Hollow in Stonewall, LA, according the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office.

People who live on River Road in Logansport are also being asked to leave because of hazardous conditions, according to DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle. The water has reportedly risen over the road.

SWEPCO has advised the sheriff's office that power is being cut to the south end of River Road.

Sandbags are available for Logansport area residents at the Fire District 1 station, according to the sheriff's office.

Arbuckle says shelters have been set up at First Baptist Church in Logansport and another in Stonewall at the community center.

Water has also risen over Garrett Park Road, according to Arbuckle.

Flood waters nearly reached the roof tops of homes and cars were not able to get through flooded streets.

At least 4 families and several pets were evacuated.

No injuries were reported.
