LA GOP holds caucus on Super Tuesday

LOUISIANA (KSLA) - The Republican Party of Louisiana hosts its statewide caucuses for the 2016 presidential election on Super Tuesday.

The vote begins the process for electing delegates to the Republican National Convention. They can select from the current field of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Ben Carson.

A delegate chooses a presidential candidate to support, then party members vote for delegates under a single candidate. Party members can pick up to 6 nominations under the one candidate.

Three delegates from each congressional district are selected to go to the national convention, and 3 others are selected as alternates.

Delegates come from each congressional district within the state. Northwest Louisiana is congressional district 4. Residents can vote at the following locations:

  • BIENVILLE, BOSSIER, CLAIBORNE, WEBSTER
    • Bossier Parish Sheriff Sub-Station
    • 2510 Viking Drive
    • Bossier City, LA
  • CADDO, DESOTO
    • Wyndham Gardens Hotel
    • 1419 E. 70th Street
    • Shreveport, LA
  • NATCHITOCHES, RED RIVER, SABINE, WINN
    • Dickey's BBQ
    • Banquet Room
    • 936 University Parkway Drive
    • Natchitoches, LA

The next phase of the delegate selection process will be the Presidential Preference election being held statewide on Saturday, March 5.
