SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following a charge Thursday of driving while intoxicated.
Just after 5:00 a.m., patrol officers were called to a crash along a stretch of I-49, near the East 70th St. exit. When officers arrived, they reportedly found that 38-year-old John Scheen had lost control of his Ford pickup truck and crashed into the concrete retaining wall.
Scheen suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Health hospital for treatment.
Authorities say Scheen, who was hired by the Shreveport Police Department in July of 2008, was charged with a single count of DWI first offense.
Shreveport police say Scheen was arrested by summons and was not booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
