NEW BOSTON, TX (KSLA) - Three people were arrested after Bowie County deputies foiled a drug delivery at an East Texas Walmart last week.
On Friday, deputies say they received information that a Christopher Durl Dudley would be delivering some methamphetamines to a person in the New Boston area.
Just after 6:00 p.m., deputies were told the delivery would take place in the parking lot of the Walmart in New Boston.
Bowie County Investigators Robby McCarver, Will Buttram and Captain Jerl Palmore set up to watch for Dudley's arrival.
Investigators say they saw Dudley enter the parking lot as a passenger of a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer. When investigators approached the vehicle, they say the driver, Geoffery Kyle Basham reached for a handgun, but he was quickly subdued.
When investigators approached the passenger side door to speak with Dudley, they say he had a handgun sticking out of his pants pocket. While searching him, authorities reportedly found 122 grams of methamphetamine. Authorities say the gun found in Dudley's possession had been reported stolen.
A third person in the vehicle, Mandi Michelle Riggs, was also taken into custody for allegedly having an outstanding probation violation warrant.
All three were booked into the Bi-State Jail.
Dudley was charged with delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams and under 200 grams, theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a weapon. His bond was set at $70,000.
Basham was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. His bond was set at $5,000.
Riggs was booked on the warrant. No bond has been set for her.
