Family gives Valentine's gift bags to law enforcement

BOSSIER PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE - It's not every day that law enforcement receive Valentine's Day cards from residents, but one family went even further than that.

The Thomas family from Benton presented a dozen Valentine's Day gift bags to Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington Friday afternoon to show their support for the Bossier Sheriff's Office and the Benton Police Department.

Tanya Thomas and her 10-year-old son, Christopher, handed the special gift bags to Sheriff Whittington and Chief David Miller in appreciation in keeping her and her family safe.

Her daughter, Lisa, attends Benton High School, and the children are also a part of the Bossier Sheriff's Young Marines program.

"This kind of appreciation just about leaves you speechless," said Sheriff Whittington. "Our deputies strive to be courteous, professional and responsive in their service to our residents. This gesture by the Thomas family to show their appreciation goes such a long way, thank you!"
