Natchitoches police arrest 2 shooting suspects

NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - The Natchitoches Police Department has arrested 2 people for shooting at a vehicle and hitting a woman with a stray bullet.

Police say a woman was making dinner inside her home on Dixie Street when she heard what she thought was fireworks across the street. She was reportedly hit with a stray bullet and went to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center on February 9 around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the bullet hit the woman in the left arm and she is stable.

Shortly after the woman arrived at the hospital, police say 2 people went to the police station saying they were shot at while driving on Dixie Street. The man who was driving told police 2 people on bikes started shooting at him.

The driver was able to identify the people that shot at him as 18-year-old Donta Brimsey and a 16-year-old juvenile.

The next morning, the Natchitoches S.W.A.T. team was use to arrest both suspects in the 1000 block of Sixth street. While officers were inside the house they found one ounce of what they believe to be marijuana and a firearm.

The 2 suspects are each charged with 2 counts of attempted second degree murder, 2 counts of aggravated damage to property, criminal negligence, simple possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled or dangerous substance.
