The United Way of Northwest Louisiana, along with 11 other United Ways from across the state, are excited to release the ALICE Report.

Louisiana is just one of ten states in the country to produce such a study.

ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, places a spotlight on the large population of hardworking residents who are struggling to make ends meet, have little or no savings, and are just one emergency away from falling into poverty.

In Louisiana, this accounts for 40 percent of the state's total population; here in Northwest Louisiana, this statistic is actually higher and is 44 percent.

The ALICE report unveils how many Louisiana workers are struggling financially and why. The United Way is hoping the study will allow them to further work with leaders in the nonprofit, government and business sectors to begin strategizing on solutions and address the underlying causes.

Each of us crosses paths with an ALICE every day. Find out more about the ALICE Report by clicking here.
