DeSoto sheriff's directed patrol unit makes 8 arrests

DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Eight people face charges as a result of a knock-and-talk operation and 3 traffic stops by the DeSoto sheriff's directed patrol unit.

Two traffic stops Jan. 16 on Louisiana Highway 5 resulted in the seizure of narcotics and the arrests of Tasha Nicole Turner, 29, of Carthage, Texas, on 1 count each of 2nd-offense possession of marijuana and having no stop lamps; and Stacy Dajuan Turner, 21, of Mansfield, on 1 count each of 2nd-offense possession of marijuana and having no license plate lights.

A traffic stop Jan. 13 on U.S. Highway 171 near it intersection with Louisiana Highway 5 resulted in the seizure of narcotics and the arrest of Charles Edward Hunter, 66, of Keithville, on a fugitive warrant from Shreveport plus 1 count each of possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and driving the wrong way on a one-way road.

A knock-and-talk operation conducted Jan. 9 in the 2100 block of Whaley Street in Mansfield resulted in the seizure of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Arrested on 1 count each of possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were Oliver R. Davis, 73, James L. Simon, 50, and Andrea Stringfellow, 57, all 3 of Mansfield, and Vanessa G. Valure, 53, of Noble. Additionally, Linda Kay Taylor, 46, of Converse, was arrested on 1 count each of 2nd or subsequent offense of possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All 8 were booked into DeSoto Detention Center.
