SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man is in jail on charges that he tried to rob a gas station.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Valero in the 3000 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport. That's on the northeast corner of the loop's intersection with Walker Road in the city's Summer Grove neighborhood.

Investigators learned that a man pulled out a handgun while standing at a counter and stated his intentions to rob the business, Shreveport police Cpl. Marcus Hines said. Instead, he left the business moments later without taking any money but reportedly threatened to shoot employees.

Police found Jacobs Lee Thomas, 30, at a residence in the 9400 block of Amity Way. They also have recovered the gun they believe was used.

Thomas, of the 2100 block of East Algonquin Trail, was booked into Shreveport City Jail at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 16 on 1 count of attempted first-degree robbery.

He also faces 1 count each of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension and being a fugitive from outstanding warrants on unrelated cases.
