SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The first parade of the Mardi Gras season in Shreveport is rolling out Saturday afternoon. And there is a special guest in town for it.

Comedian Sheryl Underwood is the grand marshal of the Krewe of Sobek parade.

"Our theme is 'Sobek goes to Hollywood,' so why not bring Hollywood to Shreveport, Louisiana," Krewe of Sobek Captain Tari Bradford said.

Underwood is a comedian from CBS's "The Talk." Before the krewe's ball Friday night, she told KSLA News 12 she is excited to join her soror, Krewe of Sobek Queen Anitra Furlow.

"What they're doing for the community, what they're doing for the people, this is what America loves. This is what America needs," Underwood said.

The parade rolls out at 1 p.m. from the Louisiana State Fair Grounds. It will go through the Queensborough neighborhood and end back at the Fair Grounds.

Bradford said it's important that the procession goes through Queensborough because they give back to the Boys and Girls Club located there.
