SFD investigating fifth vacant house fire within a week

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport firefighters are investigating a house fire in the city's Allendale neighborhood.

It happened just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 1800 block of Myrtle Street.

Over a dozen units responded to the fire and were able to gain control of it within 15 minutes.

Fire officials say the house is vacant and arson is suspected.

Shreveport Fire Chief Skip Pinkston says this is the fifth vacant house fire within a week, but it is unknown right now if the fires are related.

No injuries were reported.
