VIVIAN, LA (KSLA) - Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting that left 1 man dead Tuesday evening.
According to police, the shooting happened in the 200 block of South Pecan Street in Vivian around 8:00 p.m.
"I just don't understand why they would do that. I just don't understand," said Laquisha Hill.
Laquisha Hill is the sister of J.D. Hill, or "Boo" as her family called him. He was shot and killed in his own home Tuesday night. Hill says she was one of the last people to see her brother alive.
"I was in there 5 or 10 minutes, left, then went to the dollar store and did a little shopping and I was headed back home to Shreveport. I made it to Oil City and I get a phone call, it was from my mom and she was in a frantic. She was hollering that he had been - that Boo had been shot," said Laquisha Hill.
She got to his home right as the ambulance pulled up to the house.
"He was there lying on the floor and blood was everywhere and my mom, she was crying. She had fell out on the floor," said recounted Laquisha Hill.
Authorities say J.D. Hill was shot inside his home. He was taken to North Caddo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies on the scene told KSLA News 12 that a neighbor heard a gunshot and went to see what was happening.
"She heard a shot and after she heard the shot, she looked out the window and saw two figures running across her backyard," said Lt. James Bonnette with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
J.D. Hill's family is still trying to come to grips with their loss and say they don't understand why anyone would take his life.
"That's my brother, he's a wonderful person, he's never hurt anybody. He would give the shirt off his back if you asked him for it," explained Laquisha Hill.
Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office at (318) 675-2170.
The shooting remains under investigation.
