DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man is in custody and expected to be questioned by DeSoto sheriff's detectives after reportedly bailing during a traffic stop in north DeSoto Parish.

The traffic stop happened Tuesday morning along northbound Interstate 49 at mile marker 193. That's south of Shreveport and about a mile north of the Stonewall-Frierson Road/Louisiana Highway 3276 exit just east of Stonewall.

Mark P. Hanna, 54, made a beeline for the woods about 8:40 a.m. after a state trooper stopped a mini-van at that location for allegedly speeding, authorities said.

The trooper safely apprehended Hanna just after 9 a.m. after chasing him 1 to 3 miles into the woods east of I-49.

DeSoto sheriff's detectives want to talk to Hanna about some residential burglaries in their parish, authorities said. It's not yet clear whether items authorities found in the mini-van could be related to the burglaries they are investigating.
