SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police have a man in custody whom they believe robbed a U.S. Postal Service worker earlier this week.

Quadetrick Barnett, 17, of the 1900 block of Patzman Street in Shreveport, was arrested just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Detectives believe he might be responsible for at least 2 armed robberies, each occurring within a week of the other.

Barnett is suspected of robbing a freight delivery driver Dec. 23 in the 1900 block of Alston Street in Shreveport. He allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded that the delivery driver hand over cash and a cell phone.

Just before 3 p.m. Monday, a postal worker was robbed at gunpoint while delivering mail in the 2000 block of Garden Street in Shreveport. Taken were cash and some of the carrier's personal belongings. The postal worker was not injured, police say.

Barnett surrendered to authorities at Shreveport police headquarters Thursday afternoon and, after being interviewed by detectives, was booked into Shreveport City Jail on 2 counts of armed robbery.
