SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police are investigating a fight at a Caddo Parish high school Thursday that led to 5 arrests.
It happened around 3:15 p.m. at Huntington High School in the 6800 block of Rasberry Lane.
Police say a group of adults and students were in a breezeway at the school when the fight broke out. Officers had to use pepper spray on at least one student.
Authorities say while it is unknown if all of the students involved attend Huntington, police initially said all of those involved are Caddo Parish Schools students. However, it was later revealed that not everyone involved is a student.
The student who was pepper sprayed was treated at the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department.
The scene raised questions for many parents who had just arrived to pick up their kids.
"I was trying to figure out what happened, what's going on," said grandparent Barbara Lewis.
KSLA news 12 spoke with a parent who didn't want her identity revealed, but says she tried to stop the fight before it reached Huntington's campus.
"The kids started arguing, I tried to break them up," said the parent.
The parent went on to describe the scene of an off campus fight that allegedly led up to the on campus brawl.
"They got to Chase bank and they start fighting, and then parents jumping out of trucks and everything else," added the parent.
She says she doesn't believe the violence is necessary.
"They should be trying to stop it because what if someone accidentally got stabbed, hurt, anything".
All 4 adults and 1 juvenile were arrested for disturbing the peace by fighting.
It is unclear at this time what started the brawl.
The case remains under investigation.
