SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - One student was on a Caddo school bus when it ran off a street, barreled over a chain-link fence and struck a house Friday afternoon.

It happened about 4:10 p.m. at Line Avenue at East 77th Street in Shreveport

No injuries have been reported.

At one point, Caddo 911 dispatch records showed 5 Fire Department units working a medical emergency at that location. They were trying to reach the driver of Bus 259 to determine whether there indeed was a medical emergency, Caddo schools spokeswoman Mary Nash Wood said.

Police say that the bus was traveling about 35 mph and that its driver told them she lost control of the vehicle. No explanation was given as to why she lost control of the bus.

Charles Renter was surprised to hear a school bus had run into the living/dining room area of his residence but relieved no one was hurt. "I hate it happened, but it all can be repaired."

Renter said a neighbor called to tell him a bus had run over his fence and into his yard. It wasn't until Renter got home that he knew for sure his house had been hit.

It took nearly an hour to remove this school bus from the home located just off of Line Avenue in Shreveport.

A sight homeowner Charles Renter won't soon forget.

"I came home and saw it and I was like oh my Lord," said Renter.

As for the bus aside from a dangling front bumper, it appears bus 259 will be just fine.

"The Lord is with me I am in very good spirit," added Renter.

No one was in the residence at the time of the wreck.

"I had just talked to my wife 15 minutes before and thought she was in the house," Renter said. "But she had left out to pick up something to eat."
