CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating a wreck that left two people hurt.

It happened just before 5:00 p.m. Thursday on Ferry Lake Road near Owens Road.

According to authorities, preliminary reports suggest that a green Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Ferry Lake Rd. when the driver reportedly lost control in a curve, crossed the center line and struck a westbound Ford F-150 head-on.

Authorities say both drivers suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was taken to University Health hospital by LifeAir for his injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150, Ward 2 (Oil City) Constable Barry Purcell who was off-duty at the time of the crash, was taken by a North Caddo Medic Unit to Willis Knighton Bossier.

Deputies say both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

While the crash remains under investigation, police say they do suspect the driver of the pickup truck may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Deputies are interviewing witnesses at the scene.

Routine toxicology samples were taken from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis.

While the crash remains under investigation, investigators say charges will likely be filed.

A portion of Ferry Lake Rd. was closed while crash investigators were on the scene.
