Instead of stopping, motorist motions for police to follow him

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - One man is in jail after leading Texarkana, Texas, police on a pursuit Friday afternoon.

It began in the city when officers attempted to make a routine traffic stop in the 1700 block of Summerhill Road.

Instead of stopping, police say, the driver turned his vehicle's emergency flashers and began motioning to the officer, apparently for the officer to follow him.

The pursuit never reached any high speeds, authorities said, but the driver would not stop until he came to a residence on Springridge Road in the Liberty Eylau area of Bowie County, Texas.

The man's name had not yet been released but he was expected to be charged with evading.

Police still didn't know why the man motioned for the officer to follow him.

Assisting in the pursuit were personnel from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Bowie County
sheriff's office.
