SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Services are set later this week in Shreveport for the security guard who was fatally shot during a recent liquor store robbery.

A prayer vigil for Michael Wayne Henry, 56, of Shreveport, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Redemption Evangelistic Ministries, 370 W. 75th St., a family member said. That's off Linwood Avenue.

The public will be able to attend open visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23 at Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave. in Shreveport.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 24 in Forest Park Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road.

Henry was working security in Thrifty Liquor in the 8400 block of Linwood Avenue just after 10 p.m. Oct. 16 when an armed male entered the store and confronted him, authorities have said. The gunman shot once, hitting Henry in the upper body. The former Shreveport police officer was taken to University Health in Shreveport, where he died.

The gunman reportedly was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and distinctive pink gloves. He ran from the scene and is believed to have gotten into a silver or gray Lincoln Town Car with a black roof.

Shreveport police are asking anyone with any information to call Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or leave a tip via its website, lockemup.org.
