TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - The Texarkana, Texas man found shot in the street in the Beverly neighborhood Tuesday is now wanted for a home burglary in which police say the homeowner opened fire.

It happened at a home in the 500 block of King St. in the city's Beverly neighborhood around 1:15 p.m.

The homeowner told police that a man forced his way into his home and that he fired multiple shots at the man with a handgun to protect himself.

Police responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Celeste and King streets found 20-year-old Dakyree Hawkins lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh and followed the blood trail to the home of 33-year-old Andre Harris.

Hawkins was taken to Wadley Hospital for treatment of his wound.

Investigators gathered enough evidence to get a warrant for Hawkins' arrest on a charge of burglary of a habitation. He has not yet been arrested.

A warrant for 18-year-old Keonte Ingram was also issued, and Ingram was taken into custody without incident later that day.
