NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - Natchitoches police officers will line up Monday morning on a bridge to be recognized during the statewide day of prayer.

Officers will be positioned on each end of the Church Street Bridge at 9:00 a.m. The bridge will be closed to traffic as those that gather pray.

In addition, The Church Street Bridge, Keyser Avenue Bridge and Cane River Lake fountain will be illuminated with blue lights.

The event comes after the shooting deaths of several law enforcement officers across the nation. Gov. Bobby Jindal proclaimed September 14 to be a statewide day of prayer.

The public is invited to participate in the day of prayer and honor law enforcement officials.
