BSO hosts 'We've Got Your Back' prayer rally
BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - The Bossier Sheriff's Office is hosting a "We've Got Your Back" prayer rally on Monday, September 14 to support law enforcement.
The rally will be from 6 - 6:30 p.m. in the north parking lot of Airline High School in Bossier City.
Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington says he is joining Governor Jindal who has proclaimed Monday as a day of prayer for law enforcement.
"We will gather together as people to show our support the Thin Blue Line, pray for those who've lost loved ones in the line of duty, and ask God's blessings on our area, our state, the nation and the men and women who serve our communities," said Sheriff Whittington.
The proclamation and rally come after the recent shooting deaths of law enforcement officers around the nation. The recent murders have sparked and outcry of support for many who wear the badge.
"Various organizations and residents have given us encouraging letters, provided us treats, and told us how much they appreciate us," said Sheriff Whittington.
Bossier Sheriff's Young Marines will perform colors while the National Anthem is sung by Sachiri Henderson of First Baptist Bossier. Sheriff Whittington will deliver a few remarks, and Governor Jindal's proclamation will be read. Three area pastors, Deputy Jackie Loveless, Dr. Fred Lowery and Brother Billy Pierce, will lead in prayer.
Sheriff Whittington said, "This prayer rally will be a chance for folks to come together to pray, show support for all men and women in law enforcement and seek God's protection and guidance."
People can get free "We've Got Your Back" bumper stickers. There will also be order forms for "We've Got Your Back" t-shirts. The shirts are $15 each.
After the event order forms and bumper stickers will be available at the Viking Drive Substation.
