SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man and a juvenile face a dozen charges of simple burglary in connection with vehicle break-ins in southeast Shreveport.

Authorities also suspect the two might be responsible for additional burglaries in the area, says a statement from Shreveport police Cpl. Marcus Hines.

Just after 5 a.m. Aug. 24, patrol officers detained the juvenile and Frederick D. Jackson, 19, of Shreveport, while investigating a vehicle burglary in progress in the 4000 block of Reily Lane.

Officers found a vehicle parked nearby that Jackson had been driving. A search of the vehicle yielded a stolen semi-automatic handgun and several other items believed to have been taken during recent vehicle burglaries in an area near Village Green Drive and neighboring streets.

In addition to the 12 charges of simple burglary, Jackson has been charged with one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
