1 injured, 2 in custody in shooting in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in the city's Cedar Grove-Lynbrook neighborhood.
It happened just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of West 72nd Street near Clift Avenue.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found one person suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to University Health hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
While investigating the incident, authorities detained two men.
Police say 23-year-old Kilo Merrill was reportedly mis-handling a handgun when the weapon discharged, striking the victim. A second man, 20-year-old Raymond Bell, was also detained on the scene after he was found to be in possession of a handgun.
Merrill was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he is charged with a single count of illegal use of a weapon.
Bell was also booked into the Shreveport City Jail and is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon.
