3 injured, 1 killed in head-on crash in Bossier Parish
BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Louisiana State Police have released the names of the victims involved in a head-on crash in Bossier Parish.
The crash happened around 3:47 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of LA Highway 527 and Goat Hill Road.
Preliminary reports suggest that a 2004 GMC pickup driven by 54-year-old Charles Sweeney of Elm Grove was traveling east on LA 527 when it reportedly crossed the center line to make a left turn onto Goat Hill Road and collided head-on with a 1997 Nissan Sentra driven by 53-year-old Carol Overstreet also of Elm Grove.
State Police say Charles Sweeney and his passenger 39-year-old Anthony Sweeney were both wearing their seat belts and suffered minor injuries.
Authorities say Carol Overstreet was also wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash but her injuries were more severe. She was taken to University Health hospital by Life Air. State Police say Carol Overstreet's passenger, 54-year-old Jesse Overstreet, also of Elm Grove, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Jesse Overstreet was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner.
Authorities say toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis, but impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
