SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Two dogs that were removed from their home in Shreveport are continuing their recovery at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter.

Caddo Parish Animal Services Director Everett Harris says the dogs have been seen by a veterinarian, and tests confirm they have internal parasites, which were causing them to lose weight.

A Facebook post showing one of the malnourished dogs sparked public outrage, causing Myron Griffing to take action and get authorities involved.

"I felt obligated. I mean literally, like something just hit me, and I was like, 'I can't just go take a nap,'" Griffing said.

The dogs were removed from their home on Monday. They will be treated while Animal Services continues its investigation of the owners.

A fund has been set up to help with the dogs' expenses. Anyone wanting to donate can do so at any Progressive Bank in Shreveport under the account name Lucky and T-Bone.
