SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A patron at a local casino shot himself while trying to put his gun in the trunk of his car early Monday morning.
Officers were called to Sam's Town Casino on Clyde Fant Parkway just after 7 a.m. for a report of a shooting. They arrived to find 34-year-old Jerry Grimes with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the right thigh.
He was taken to the University health with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say their investigation indicates that the weapon accidentally discharged as he was removing it from his person and placing it in the trunk.
Shreveport police say Grimes showed no signs of impairment and had no prior convictions that would make it illegal for him to have the gun.
