Shreveport teen dies in shooting in MLK neighborhood

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport teen is dead after a shooting in the MLK neighborhood.

Shreveport police were called to the 2900 block of Peach Street around 9:45 Sunday morning. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 17-year-old Janontea Carter at the back of the Cooper Road Apartments suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Carter was transported to University Health Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died just before 11:30 Sunday morning.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Detectives are working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
