Fried Bananas

 

November is National Diabetes Month.  Diabetes is the sixth leading cost of death in the United States.  Along with diabetes comes the responsibility of diet and exercise.

 

Think that we can have no dessert with diabetes?  Not true.  This recipe focuses on using bananas and sugar-free syrup for a tasty treat!

 

Fried Bananas

 

ü      1 tablespoon of cholesterol free margarine

ü      3 bananas, peeled and sliced in half

ü      3 tablespoons of sugar-free maple syrup

ü      1 tablespoon of slivered almonds.

  2. class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Add bananas.  Cook for 30 seconds on each side.
  3. class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Add syrup, cook for 2 minutes.
  4. class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Serve bananas, sprinkle with almonds.

 

Yield: 3 servings - 1 half is one fruit exchange.
