SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Residents in Shreveport's Sunset Acres neighborhood were told to stay inside their homes after a construction crew ruptured a gas line late Tuesday morning.
According to SFD Capt. Tony Simms, a backhoe hit a gas line in the 6500 block of Canal Blvd. around 11 a.m., sending gas spewing into the air.
Simms says water is being sprayed on the leak to help dissipate the gas coming from the 1 3/4" line.
Canal Blvd. was closed from the 6400 block to the 6600 block while repairs were made.
Residents in the 25 to 30 affected homes remained sheltered in place until the leak was capped by Arkla Gas, which was done by 1:35 p.m.
