Body pulled from Cross Lake, SPD investigating
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police and fire crews have recovered a body found in Cross Lake late Saturday morning.
The discovery was made around 11 a.m. by boaters near the Cross Lake Bridge. Cross Lake patrol was dispatched a short time later, and a dive team was called in to recover the body.
The victim, who is described as a middle-aged white male has not been identified. Police say it does not appear that he had been in the water for very long.
No unclaimed boats have been found in connection with the discovery of the body, and SPD Cpl. Marcus Hines says the bridge has been checked for abandoned vehicles. None were found.
Some trauma to the man's head was noted, but it will be up to the coroner to determine whether that had anything to do with his death, or the reason he wound up in the water.
Cpl. Hines says the death is being investigated as a homicide, because it has not yet been determined how the man died. "We do not know if it's self-inflicted, or perhaps there was foul play. It's just too early to make that determination at this time."
