BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - A woman suffered a serious head injury Tuesday morning, after being struck in a parking lot of a business on Airline Drive in Bossier City.
Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale says police and fire crews were called to the Starbucks in the 1900 block of Airline just before 10 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian hit and arrived to find the woman bleeding, but conscious.
Crash investigators are on the scene because of the seriousness of the woman's injury, although Natale says it is not believed to be life-threatening. She was taken to University Health in Shreveport.
According to the initial findings of investigators in the scene, the woman was walking in the parking lot when a Jeep Wrangler backing up to claim a parking spot hit her, knocking her to the pavement.
Natale says no citations are expected to be issued, as it appears to have been an accident.
The incident does serve as a reminder for both pedestrians and drivers, even in parking lots. "If you're in a parking lot, just be aware of your surroundings," Natale says. "If you're operating a motor vehicle, before backing out make sure it's clear."
