SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A teen bicyclist sustained life threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon at an intersection in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood.
Police say the 16-year-old victim was hit by a silver Ford Taurus at the corner of E. 79th Street and Thornhill Avenue. The male cyclist was headed southbound and allegedly ran a stop sign when he was hit by a female driver.
The cyclist was taken to University Health Shreveport for treatment. The driver was also taken to UHS for a standard toxicology test, police said.
The Shreveport Police Department's major accident unit is on the scene investigating the incident.
