NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - Authorities in Natchitoches Parish have now released the name of the man found dead in Black Lake Tuesday morning.
According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office and the coroner's office, it was the body of 47-year-old Troy W. Harper of Creston that was found near Chandler's Camp, north of Campti shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies were notified by a parish resident who found the body on the edge of the lake near Chandler's Camp off of La. Hwy 9.
Detectives say it appears that Harper was walking along the banks of Black Lake fishing, when his fishing line became tangled in some cypress stumps in the water. Detectives believe Harper attempted to the free the line, when he apparently fell into the water between the stumps, and was unable to help himself up.
Deputies believe Harper had a history of heart problems.
No foul play is suspected.
The name was withheld on Tuesday because next of kin had not been notified.
