BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - A ghostly tale some 140 years in the making has many thinking Bossier High School could have a visitor from the past.

"The building is an artifact. It's what I tell my students," says history teacher Beth Martin.

Bossier High was built a little over 70 years ago. However some 70 years before that, on that same stretch of land, sat a confederate fort: Fort Kirby Smith. It's believed one of the confederate soldiers who fought to keep soldiers from the North from crossing the Red River still hasn't left his post. In other words, the lore is that this soldier still walks the halls of Bossier High.

"I heard something down the hallway, maybe students up there, " says Chevette Tisby.

Chevette, along with Ella Feaster, are Bossier High employees. Ella says one time she thought she heard someone trapped inside a hallway locker. She says it sounded like someone humming, with their mouth taped shut."

"We opened the locker up. It was in the wall. It was a humming sound," adds Ella.

History is her expertise, but a few year ago Beth found herself square in the middle of a paranormal situation.

"I saw the light change and I heard a noise," recalls Beth. She says while in a 3rd floor bathroom after school hours, she heard a strange noise and yelled, "Is anyone out there?" She says no one answered back.

However, as she walked out of the bathroom, "I walked over here and that door is shut. Absolutely shut. I started shaking. I started freaking out." To this day, Beth has no idea how such a heavy door could close by itself.

Billy Broom, who works with Ella and Chevette with the maintenance crew admits he was scared from the gym one day, an empty gym, and the strange noises he was hearing.

"If I hear voices or see something, that's a wrap. I'm resigning," laughs Broom.
