BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Two children, ages 7 and 5, were seriously injured after the motorized scooter they were riding collided with a car Wednesday in Bossier Parish.
Louisiana State Police say the accident happened about 11 a.m. at the intersection of Hanover and Creole streets in the Rosedale subdivision.
The crash involved a Razor MX 500 motorized scooter driven by the 7-year-old Bossier City girl and a Acura ATL driven by Lisa H. Barnette, 48, also of Bossier City. A 5-year-old boy was riding behind the girl.
Troopers say the electric scooter was heading north on Creole Street when the girl failed to stop at the stop sign. This action resulted in the westbound Acura, which was being driven on Hanover Street, colliding with the scooter.
The girl received serious injuries and was taken to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Troopers say the boy's injuries were severe and that he, too, was taken to LSU Medical Center.
Troopers say that neither child was wearing a helmet and both were ejected. Barnette was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
