SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A convicted felon accused of pulling an assault style weapon on a Shreveport police officer is behind bars.

Police say 28-year-old Labroderick Alexander turned himself in Tuesday night. Police say Probationary Officer Joshua Cordell tried to pull Alexander over for traffic violations on Linwood Avenue and West 70th Street Sunday night. But Alexander didn't stop until West 77th and Dowdell streets a few blocks away.

Cordell says that's when Alexander got out of the car and pointed an assault style weapon at him. Police say Cordell fired shots as Alexander ran off. No one was hit by any bullets.

Alexander has been taken to the Caddo Correctional Center. He's charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer and felony possession of a firearm.
