KARNACK, TX (KSLA) - Texas authorities have identified the man who drowned Sunday in Caddo Lake.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Office say it was the body of 21-year-old Wildrick Lamon Jenkins of Marshall that was recovered Sunday from about 11 feet of water near the eastern shore of Caddo Lake near the Dallas Caddo Club in Uncertain, Texas.
Jenkins was one of two men from Marshall, Texas who had rented a canoe at nearby Johnson's Ranch and were paddling down the river when it overturned, throwing both men into the water.
The man who survived was able to swim to shore, after trying and failing to find Jenkins.
Game wardens from Bowie County assisted the Harrison County Game Wardens with specialized side-scan sonar equipment and found Jenkins' body, not far from where the canoe capsized.
They say it appears that neither occupant of the canoe was wearing the life jackets that were in the boat with them.
