SPD: Bicyclist killed in hit-in-run identified

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Police have identified the man who died following an apparent hit and run crash Friday night.
71-year-old Samuel Leon Smith was struck by while riding a bike along the 2400 block of Southern Avenue around 7 p.m.
Police are still looking for the are looking for the driver of the pickup truck that hit Smith and then left the scene. The year, make and model of that truck is not known.
Witnesses on the scene told authorities that they heard what sounded like tires squealing, followed by what appeared to be a possibly gray or silver pickup truck leaving the area where the man was found.
Smith died of his injuries shortly after arriving at LSU Medical Center. He had no identification on him, and police believe he was homeless.
