CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A routine traffic stop netted about 5 pounds of marijuana Tuesday and landed a Mooringsport man behind bars.

Agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force, assisted by the Caddo Sheriff's K-9 Unit, conducted the stop on Highway 169 near Dayton Road. The driver, 50-year-old Edward Barmore, consented to a search of the vehicle. K-9 Sgt. Chris Bane and his partner, Ace, conducted a search around the vehicle, and the dog alerted on the drugs.

Authorities say about five pounds of marijuana were found hidden in the engine compartment of Barmore's vehicle. Agents also found 27.9 grams of marijuana at Barmore's residence on Croom Street in Mooringsport.

Barmore was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule I drugs second offense and the traffic violation.
