CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A former teacher at North Caddo High School was arrested Thursday for stealing $9,000 in materials from the school, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Rodney Doyle, 42, of Dubberly, was arrested on a charge of felony theft and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

Detective Charles Bradford, who investigated the theft, said Doyle worked as a teacher assigned to the school's welding department during the 2011-12 school year. He did not return to teach this year.

In September, school officials reported the theft of approximately $9,000 worth of metal taken from the welding department. Scrap yard receipts with Doyle's name on them were found in Doyle's work desk showing that he sold metal from the school between December 2011 and April 2012. He received approximately $2,300 from the scrap yard.
