SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A taxicab driver overturned his car while swerving to avoid a man riding a bicycle in his lane on Line Avenue Monday evening.

Shreveport Police spokesman Cpl. Marcus Hines says the Action Taxi driver had crawled out of his car and was walking around by the time police arrived. He did not appear injured. There were no passengers in the car.

The accident happened about 7:45 p.m. That's when the driver, heading south on Line, saw a bicyclist in his lane at the crest of the hill just south of Interstate 20.

As the driver swerved, his car caught the guidewire of a utility pole, causing the car to flip on its side.

Police say the bicyclist fled the scene on the bicycle, which he abandoned at the bottom of the hill. They are searching for the bicyclist.
