"Boom or Bust" new scenic highway in NW Louisiana
Parts of Northwest Louisiana will now be known as the "Boom or Bust" scenic byway.
Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne announced Thursday that a 130-mile stretch along Louisiana Highway 2 will be known as "Boom or Bust" highlighting the days of oil and gas "Boomtowns." "Anytime we can bring visitors to Louisiana, that means revenue for the state from people who don't live here," says Dardenne. "That's the best kind of revenue we could possibly have. Tourism is a great business for Louisiana and it's something that we need to recognize from a policy standpoint is a great investment for the state, and I'm gonna keep talking about that every chance I get."
You can download a GPS guided driving tour in any smartphone marketplace. The "NLA Byways" app is free. Travelers without a smartphone can rent a handheld device to guide them along the byway.
